To Do

Things I'm going to get done over spring break:

  • Laundry (easy)
  • Clean out desk (hopefully get menfolk to move desks around)
  • Clean off dining table
  • Clean off kitchen table #1
  • Clean off kitchen table #2
  • Move board games to book shelf/display case thing
  • Adhere stair treads to stairs
  • Clean off coffee table
  • Clean off side table in foyer
  • Go through the piled up mail (remember when you were little and it was sooo exciting to get an item of mail?)
  • Go through shoes (donate unwanted pairs to Goodwill)
  • Cook dinner- as opposed to having Bill cook. I've got no excuses since I'm not at work this week
  • And if (big IF here) it is dry out I will work on my sad neglected flower garden
Eh, that is probably more than enough. I'm sure I could make the list longer, but I will feel pretty damned accomplished if I get to check all these bad boys off the list.

Good news- the sanders we already have seem to be doing the trick on the floor in the nursery. We might need to rent an edger though, since it is hard (impossible?) to get in those corners and right flush next to the trim. When the sanding is done we are gonna need to do some mad wiping down in there. There is dust coating the walls and trim- my nice new paint job now looks super dingy and gross. Luckily, it will come right off with no problems. But, man, is it everywhere! The new light fixture looks like it has been in place for half a century with the amount of dust coating it.

I sure hope we can find a stain/finish that will match the finish in the hall. I know you can get paint samples- can you get stain samples?

Here a pretty picture to finish up the post:

Oh, would you look at that- it's blue! Shocking, I know.

Pretty Blue Things

It's spring break, y'all! Wah-hoo! I am so happy to have a week off to decompress and rest. It is going to be a pretty low key week. I'm going down to Oregon at the end of the week for my baby shower, but other than that I will just be doing stuff around the house (like napping). Hopefully, I will also be doing things like de-cluttering and cleaning off the desk in the guest room so we can do some desk swapping. The one that is currently taking up space in the foyer  will go to the guest room, that one will then go to Bill's office, and the one in there is actually a folding table that will go... uhh, somewhere. We have a pretty decent amount of storage space for an old house, but it is not used effectively. Maybe I will get at least a few of the storage spaces organized. Maybe.

Did I mention I'm going to nap? Because I sooo am.

Right now Bill is getting ready to test our sanders on the floor of the nursery. We have a couple of smaller models that we hope will be sufficient, but if not then we will need to rent a larger model.

While he is doing that I will share with you some pretty blue pictures.

All of the above images I found on this blog.

And those two are from here.
 Go here.

And I don't remember where this one is from. Oops.

Ahhh, pretty things...

Theme: Things I Think are Pretty (like flowers)

Not a lot is getting done around our casa. Bill continues to chip away on our backdoor stairs. He is planning to finish it up within the next week or two. I look forward to posting picts (because that would mean the stairs would be complete!!!!).

I have not been up to much house wise. I hope to plant some veggie starts and seeds in our community garden tomorrow, but we’ll see. I’ve been meaning to get this done for well over a month now, but here’s hoping tomorrow is the day!

Unfortunately, the next month or two will probably not yield a lot of home projects. You see, even though school with the kiddos is almost out (15 school day and counting!). I only have like 4 days off before I go to grown up school, that is my second summer of  training for my Montessori credentials.  It is super time consuming and a freaking hour plus commute each way. So, yeah, house projects will be on hold during that time. Hopefully I will still be cognizant enough to water my garden so I can occasionally post photos of my glorious flowers (fingers crossed!).

Anywho, here are some pretty pictures that shall inspire future projects. After all, I will have almost a whole month post- Montessori training and pre- kiddos. My head is already reeling with all the possible projects for August.windowboxes1_thumb

I would love to create flower boxes, maybe for the second the floor front windows. That would mean I would need to remove the screens from those windows in order to keep them watered, so I’m not sure if that is really the best idea. What about you all… do any of you have window boxes? Unknown-1 I love florals! I know, this must be shocking since I have already repeatedly professed my love of  flowers… but, yes, it is true, I also love floral prints. CH&I 21thibaut12_thumb[1]   765014972_mSNNr-M812750668_tRZwK-XL Amy Butler Okay, that is probably enough floral prints for today. Of course, I have many many more tucked away on my hard drive, but those will have to wait.

Have a great weekend! Hope you all are more productive than I am.

Last Weekend…

So, you want to know what I did last weekend at home? I assume you do, or you wouldn’t be reading this blog.

Well, here it is:

I slept.

I drank tea.

I sucked on cough drops.

I dropped fistfuls of ibuprofen (or the recommended dosage, whatever).

I slept some more.

The end.

FYI, strep throat, an ear ache, and a fever all at the same time licks major balls.

Here are some pretty pictures to make you forget about what a horrible blogger I have been.bohoBohemianShoebox6

And, because I am becoming (slightly) more organized all the photos link back from where I stole borrowed them.

Hope you all are healthier than I am!

Art Wall, a beginning

As I mentioned last week, we had some frames to hang. Today, we hung them. I had grand plans to make some epic art walls.  I have been oooh-ing and ahhh-ing over art walls on the interwebs for quite a while now. I am sharing them with you so you may ooh and ahh as well. Let the fawning commence.843832099_weEJK-O9e68e64ee714annie twobhg100ideas_thumbCanadian House & Homelonny4art7_thumb[1]spiro6_thumb[1]So, very very pretty.

My many apologies about the links. I am trying to become more organized when I save images so I know where I found them. When I know where I found the image I’ve linked back, but when I don’t… well, I didn’t.  Lets just chalk this up to a rookie mistake, okay? Good. I’m glad that’s settled.

Anyway, my point was not my poor blogging courtesy, but rather how much I love these art walls.

Here is our interpretation.IMG_7503It is just a start. I would like to see it grow. I’m not 100% committed to the arrangement, but as we get more pieces to hang I hope that it will fill out nicely.

We hung the rest of the pieces we framed last weekend as well, but not in an art wall set up… Rather in my standard museum hang. You know, evenly spaced and at a eye level. Classic.IMG_7484
