Somehow Judah is already over 3 months old.

I keep meaning to post... but then I don't. Obviously.

Judah has just grown and changed so much that I don't know quite where to start. I want to write down all the little things to track his development before they slip away. The last few months have flown by. But I need to start somewhere. So I will start here, with a super brief recap of the last few months.

Here is our boy as a newborn (well, a 4 day old):

He was so small. Just a tiny little guy. He would sleep and nurse and sleep and nurse. He made the most adorable little sound. I wish I had recorded it. It sounded like a soft little, "ef, ef, ef, eff".

Here he is at one month:

As you can see, he chunked up quite a bit that first month. He went from 8lbs to almost 11. Sometime between the first and second month he got big enough to wear his cloth diapers. He also began to do social smiles, which just melt your heart. Well, mine at least. Before he turned two months we took our first real family vacation. We took the babe to the Olympic Peninsula. We stayed in Forks and used that as a base to explore and hike around the area. The trip was easier than we expected it to be. The boy did pretty damn well.

Two months:

Bill had to go back to work when Judah hit two months. It was wonderful having him home. It made the transition to parenthood that much easier. It was also great bonding time for Bill and Judah. He is an awesome dad, but I always knew he would be. At two months we transitioned Judah from sleeping in our room (in his playard right next to my side of the bed) to sleeping in his own room. It was a totally easy transition. He rolled with it like a champ.

And here we are at 3 months:

He continues to grow and grow. He is well over 16lbs at this point and wears 9 month clothing. This kid has so much clothing he didn't even get a chance to wear once. He just grew too fast! Not that I'm complaining, I think chunky babies are the cutest (and cuddliest). He is such a happy little dude. The only time he really cries is when he is tired and fighting it. He loves to smile and babble.

His hand coordination has improved a ton these last few weeks. He can hold his hands now (ad you can see in the picture). He can grab and hold his toys and hit a spinner toy with pretty decent accuracy.

He has also started rolling over from his tummy to his back. Sometimes he will flip over super quick like it ain't no thang. Sometimes he fusses and works really hard at it but can still get it. And sometimes he gives up, buries his face in the blanket or mat and wales. You just never know what you are going to get. It was pretty cool that the first time he flipped over was the morning he turned 3 months. When he first did it I didn't quite believe it had just happened. I thought maybe I put him down at an angle or something, because he did it so fast and I hadn't noticed and build up to it in the preceding weeks.

He really is a great kid. I am so lucky that I get to stay home with him. I'm really thankful that we are able to make that happen. He is amazing. And I love him lots.

  1. Lacey, I hadn't realized you started up blogging again. I'm really glad to see you have found the time to record all of Judah's accomplishments and your emotions. I'm not sure if there is somewhere on your computer where you can store all of these posts, just in case blogspot goes away one day, but I hope you do save them. The pictures and comments you've made are just too precious to disappear. I'm so glad I've been part of his little life from days before his birth, and I hope to be there for him, you, Bill and whatever siblings may come along, for a long, long time.
